Gartmore Road

Gartmore Road is a supported living service in the Ralston area of Paisley. The house is a large Victorian detached property, which offers spacious accommodation to the four men who currently live there. Each have their own bedroom for the first time and enjoy the individual care that they had not previously experienced. They are supported on a twenty-four hour basis by a dedicated staff team, many of whom have been there since the house opened.

This year, following legislation passed by the Scottish Executive, the Care Commission inspected the service.

The men enjoy a varied and active social life. As season ticket holders for St Mirren the men rarely miss an event at Love Street. The men are also avid Boccia players. Boccia is a form of bowling and the men have participated in this sport for many years. At the last two Special Olympics, in Cardiff and Glasgow, the men have brought home a number of gold, silver and bronze medals.

On a recent Carers Questionnaire one relative said, “I am very happy that my brother came to stay at Gartmore Road. It has given him a new life and he is a lot happier. I was very unsure when he left the hospital, if he would adapt, but your staff have proved me wrong. The care he has received from your staff is first class.”
